Ohio Labor Law FAQs
What is Ohio’s minimum wage?
Ohio has a few separate minimum wages that employers may need to be cognizant of, depending on their business’s annual gross receipts. As of 2025, businesses that earn $394,000 or more will need to pay a minimum wage of $10.70 per hour to their employees. Businesses that make less than $394,000 per year will need to uphold the federal minimum wage, which is currently $7.25 per hour. Tipped Employees are entitled to a minimum wage of $5.35 per hour. This information will be detailed on the Ohio compliance poster.
Does Ohio have workers’ compensation laws?
Yes. With few exceptions, Ohio employers must obtain coverage through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) unless they qualify to become self-insured. For self-insured businesses, there is a separate section on the Ohio compliance poster with details. Keep in mind that self-insurance is allowed only for large employers meeting strict financial standards. Workplace posters in Ohio will display information about Ohio Workers' Compensation and Rebuttable Presumption.
Do remote or hybrid employees need to be provided posters?
Yes. Ohio employers still need to provide Ohio labor law posters to their remote employees. Mailing a physical poster to the employee is a solution, but it may be easier to provide a poster electronically instead. You can order an electronic poster from All In One Poster Company, and we’ll email you a copy to post online or distribute to your team.
